I have 22 days left (not including traveling weekends) and 22 things I want to do before I leave Budapest!
For the next 33 days I’m going to try to travel to Prague, Vienna, and Debrecen, while also discovering something new everyday I’m in Budapest.
Here’s my list of 22 things:
- House of Terror + Kerepesi Cemetery/Mausoleum
- See something at the Hungarian State Opera
- Explore District 8, Budapest’s Castle District (specifically Mikszáth tér and Ráday utca)
- Take a stroll on Városligeti Fasor
- Window shop on Király utca, Budapest’s Design Street
- Explore Óbuda (specifically the 100 year old restaurant, Kéhli Vendéglő and the Aquincum)
- Go to the top of St. Stephen’s Basilica
- Walk along the Danube during the day and then again at night (see the cast iron shoes along the Pest side of the river)
- Walk up the staircase of the water tower on Margitsziget
- Explore the Buda hills OR go caving in the Pál-völgyi cave system
- Budapest Zoo
- Zwack Unicum Museum + Szamos marzipan on the Vaci Utca
- Jewish Musuem + Fröhlich (try their speciality, the flódni)
- Go to the Szimpla Kert Farmer’s market on Sunday and the GOUBA weekly Sunday bazaar
- Try the traditional flavors of pogácsa: krumplis, túró, sajtos, and tepertős at the central market next to Corvinus, as well as any other interesting looking flavors
- Go Souvenier window shopping at Printa, Fregoli, and Tisza (Hungarian, but with a twist)
- Go to Daubner Cukrászda (try the pogácsa) vs. Szalai Cukrászda (try the rétes)
- Go to the New York Café at the New York Boscolo Palace and see Ferenciek tere (a little bit of Paris)
- Go to BOTH SugarShop stores in Budapest (One in District 4 and one in District 6)
- Watch the sunrise from Gellért Hegy and go to the Organic Market held every Saturday
- ]Visit Memento Park, Millenáris Park, and Károlyi Gardens
- Go to the Danube Bend (possibly)
